Opened New 106-Bed Safe Haven Shelter in Lower Manhattan
EventMayor Mamdani and DSS Commissioner Molly Park announced the opening of a new Safe Haven shelter at 320 Pearl Street in Lower Manhattan to accommodate 106 New Yorkers during the ongoing cold emergency. The shelter is operated by Breaking Ground and provides on-site services with no curfews or restrictions. The Mamdani administration accelerated the opening of the facility as part of its work to bring homeless New Yorkers indoors during a historic cold snap.
